“The Simpsons” predicting that there would be a mass shooting at a screening of Marvel’s “Black Panther” is false. There is no truth to a doctored image allegedly showing that the long running FOX animated comedy of having imagined a scenario in one of its episodes where Ned Flanders shot at movie goers outside a screening of “Black Panther.” Rather, the image is a composite of two images.

“Black Panther” starring Chadwick Boseman is already receiving great reviews and is tracking to have a large box office for this President’s Day weekend. Now, in light of a recent tragedy in a Florida high school shooting and a past a mass shooting at a Colorado theater, someone created and shared a false image showing the “The Simpsons” predicting a mass shooting at a screening of “Black Panther.”

However, Snopes reported that this “screenshot” is not real. Clearly, the above image was poorly thrown together with the use of two different animation styles. While the bottom portion does indeed show an episode of “The Simpsons” the top portion does not. The real portion comes from the episode “Homer Loves Flanders” (video below) where Ned imagines killing Homer during a dream sequence.

Additionally, Snopes noted that the portion with the movie theater originated from a piece of clipart that had then been cropped, slightly distorted and had the words “Black Panther” added to it.

Nonetheless, some users on social media were fooled into believing that the above image was real and warned movie goers about attending “Black Panther.” The reason some were fooled is because “The Simpsons” have predicted some events that have happened. However, the animated show has also been falsely attributed with other predictions that it did not ever discuss like here and here.
